How Solar Works

A Solar Cell

Solar cells (photovoltaic cells) work by converting sunlight directly into electricity.  A solar panel system is composed of modules of cells which are connected electrically creating an array of modules.  As light strikes the modules the energy of the light is absorbed and transmitted to the solar cell material, causing electrons to become emitted.  The electrons then travel uni-directionally under an electric field and create a circuit providing clean, renewable and now profitable electricity.
